Akira Technology Solutions (originally conceptualized as Byte Crew Pty Ltd) was born not in a corporate boardroom, but in the residence halls of the Vaal University of Technology. Founded by Vuyo Mhlaba, a passionate Information Technology student, the company started out of pure necessity.
What began as a late-night hustle building custom DIY audio systems, fabricating subwoofers, and helping desperate fellow students flash OS drives and recover crashed laptops quickly revealed a glaring problem: there was a massive gap between affordable, rapid hardware support and the digital needs of a modern university campus. Students couldn't afford weeks of downtime. They needed a crew that understood their exact pain points.
As the demand for reliable hardware repair scaled, so did Vuyo’s vision. It became clear that simply fixing laptops wasn't enough. The future was moving toward heavy interconnectivity, high-bandwidth streaming, and enterprise IT solutions.
The operation rebranded and evolved into Akira Technology Solutions, aggressively expanding its technical portfolio. We pivoted into professional Live Media Production, engineering complex Audio over IP (AoIP) workflows for major events, and deploying state-of-the-art networking infrastructures—including high-speed Starlink installations for remote businesses and educational hubs.
Today, Akira operates as a proud and highly capable subsidiary of Inala Holdings Group. With operations spanning from our headquarters in Johannesburg to our active, student-led satellite hub at VUT, we bridge the gap between grassroots tech talent and enterprise-grade execution.
We are more than just a tech retailer. We are an ecosystem. From the student who needs a shattered screen replaced before midterms, to the corporation requiring a dedicated Starlink mesh network, Akira delivers.
"Our mission is simple: We Fix. We Build. We Broadcast. We Empower. We are breaking digital boundaries for students and enterprises alike."
— Vuyo Mhlaba, Founder
